Music - A.C.T Tribute

Contents
This is my attempt to show appreciation for A.C.T's music.
A.C.T is a Swedish band that
plays a very upbeat music, sounding like City Boy, 10cc,
ELO, Dream Theater and a few other bands (official info also mentions Muse, Rush and Saga, among others). In my mind they are the City Boy of the 21st century (more for the attitude to the music than
anything else). Overall very listenable music, yet with a hard edge.
Warmly recommended for anyone into melodic metal, and others too.I saw
A.C.T in the
act (pun intended) when they kicked off their brief European tour in Malmö, Sweden the
12th of July, 2006. The show was excellent, with a lot of give and take
between the band and the audience, and it confirmed my belief that
A.C.T is a great band, both digitally and live.
You might argue that their hair styles are a bit weird, but that's one of those things you just have to nitpick about.
Today's Report is probably my favorite, and I especially like the themed parts of the albums. Last Epic is all themed
and Consequences on Silence is really good.
I was at A.C.T's show in Malmö March 24, and it was very enjoyable. The
band was very tight, and Ola is becoming a real guitar god (if he wasn't
already). Actually Ola got
the most praise from the audience, yet all in the band are skilled and
played their parts very well. At times I was standing close to the scene to watch
the "finger work" of Ola. Not that I caught anything I could replicate. I'm more
into the "all thumbs" method.
This time they didn't play any previously unheard material, which they did
last time. Then Silence was close at hand, so it was natural they played songs
from that album as well. They played a good mix from all 4 albums, and they made
some smaller variations of their songs, which I like. Live concerts shouldn't
be carbon copies of the albums.
The band seemed to like the response from the audience, but honestly there
should have been more people this time around, considering they've signed up to
InsideOut, and the Silence CD is supposedly selling well. Let's hope they'll
play arenas next year.
Unfortunately I forgot to bring the camera, but I'd be happy to post others'
photos here.

Inside Out Music will be releasing 'Special Editions' of the first three albums by
A.C.T (March 2007 according to CDON). All three 'Special Editions' will include material never previously heard before, including demos and live tracks.
Their fourth album 'Silence' entered the Swedish National chart on release in October 2006, while it also reached number 2 on the Ginza Rock sales chart and
Number 4 on the Ginza Album sales chart.
One of the best live bands around, (voted the best live band at the Sweden Rock Festival ahead of supergroups such as YES, Jethro Tull, Queensryche and Whitesnake) you can catch them at these
venues.
