Snapper Features

  • All settings and functions are on the same 'in the face' display, making use very easy and quick
  • Possible to select among multiple cameras connected via USB
  • Most camera features can be configured interactively
  • Very flexible time-lapse function that enables capturing any amount of pictures at any times, with automatic file naming and without using up the camera memory; capture times are accurate to a second
  • Pictures on the camera's memory card can be selectively (via picture preview) or collectively downloaded or erased
  • Easy-to-understand status messages and progress info
  • Fast picture downloads
  • Very small application (easy to distribute)
  • Written in Visual Basic for stability, efficiency and easy enhancement

Applications

  • Macro photography (as the camera is not stirred, any amount of configurations can be tried out without disturbing the subject or the camera)
  • Serialised photography for e.g. ID cards, document pages, photos for the Web
  • Professional photography that requires testing out many different configurations
  • Time lapse photography for day changes, building progress, slow animals (snails anyone...), bacteria growth samples etc

Users

  • Pro and amateur photographers
  • Hospitals
  • Chemical labs
  • Schools
  • Libraries
  • Anyone in need of easily taking a series of photographs in high quality and have the ability to tweak the camera settings until perfect for the task

To Do List

Even though it's already quite useful, there is some need for custom development if more cameras and functionality is required.

  • Detailed help information
  • Shareware protection, enabling free and commercial versions
  • Visual Studio Installer for more professional install (currently using VB Installer)
  • Support all Olympus cameras (actually a simple change)
  • Possibly breaking functionality up in different menus and dialogs
  • Possibly adding saving of configurations for later retrieval
