NetBeans 5.0 now officially out
NetBeans 5.0 was released today with great fanfare.

NetBeans is an advanced development tool for Java applications, and can also be used to develop J2ME/MIDP applications for mobile phones via the Mobility Pack plug-in. The latter enables drawing the UI (the different screens as well as the flow between screens), and it generates Java code from the UI drawing. This is just skimming the surface. NetBeans is loaded with features. It's also completely free.

Don't forget to download Java Wireless Toolkit as well, if you intend to make mobile applications.
