Phones/DAPs replace the wristwatch
I haven't used a wristwatch for many years, but it seems this is an overall trend as phones and media players take over as status and clock devices.

Cell phones don't replace watches. I hear that coming from alot of people that are usually late because their cell phones give inaccurate time or they are gabbing on one. Do they have skindiver cell phones? Pulling out a cell phone to tell the time seems pretty stupid.
Well, many actually do this, and I haven't had a watch for maybe 6 years. As phones are so small it's no problem.
It shows where the value is: to tell the time, rather than show off. The phone is replacing the watch as a status symbol anyway.
Surely it doesn't go for everyone though.
