Bluetooth users sued for patent infringements
Research Group Sues Electronics Giants over Bluetooth Patents mentions that WRF has on the behalf of universities sued Nokia, Samsung and Matsushita. Many have already written about this, which indicates a general interest from news media for such cases. Probably because of the possible effects this has on the companies involved.
WRF is like NTP (remember the RIM case?) a lawyer-only company, but compared to NTP WRF doesn't own the patents themselves.
Of course there's no possibility for the companies involved to get around the patents by exchanging the technology. It's already ubiquitous. Could WRF win this case? I'm sure the phone providers will do anything they can to not make it so.
